Course Objectives To provide students with information about the cognitive processes people use to evaluate themselves and others in the social world.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • develop an understanding of the domain of social cognition,
  • comprehend the social cognitive processes used in self-formation and evaluation,
  • understand the cognitive processes involved in evaluating others,
  • develop an awareness of cognitive shortcuts and biases,
  • learn the cognitive processes underlying attitudes, prejudice, and discrimination.
Course Content Social cognition approaches, attention and encoding processes, the self from a social cognition perspective, social psychological attributions, heuristics and biases in the evaluation process, cognition and biases in attitudes, prejudice and discrimination processes.
