Course Objectives The course will provide students with a mastery of the various concepts and their interrelationships within each personality theory as well as with an appreciation of their empirical bases and their values and limitations. The major applications of each theory will be presented and discussed
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Have a basic knowledge about personality theories
  • Are able to evaluate each personality theory on testability dimension
  • Are able to compare and contrast personality theories based on their view of human agency and development of psychopathology
  • Are able to evaluate each personality theory on refutability dimension
  • Are able to evaluate each personality theory on idiographic/ nomothetic dimension
Course Content Testability, refutability, idiographic/nomothetic dimensions, psychoanalysis, analytic psychology, ego psychology, object relations theory, humanistic psychology, existential psychology, interpersonal theory, evolutionary psychology.
