Course Objectives To design for supporting creative and practical studies that structure the visual field and develop cognitive processes in the area of design, organize the sensation and emotional data, comment and connect the talent of giving meaning to the events with the psychological elements in the perception process
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Know and use the fundamental concepts of psychology
  • State the Gestalt theory
  • Tell the intrinsic and extrinsic factors that affect the perceptual process
  • Show behaviors that are related with creative sensation and develop visual memory
Course Content Optical properties, visual perception, visual thinking, visual warning, illusion and Gestalt principles; visual methods of expression, consciousness -knowledge and experience in topics such as the importance of subliminal perception.

Weekly Subjects and Releated Preparation Studies

1 Description of design concept: general, visual thought, visual perception
2 The function of eyes, and seeing physically
3 Perception event. The concepts of centre, border, route and direction
4 Gestalt theory, rationalization and intuitive knowledge (Example: two and three dimensioned basic design. Place)
5 Definition of creativity. Short history, some sources and examples before the education of creativity
6 Creativity developing methods. General methods, behaviors, hindering the creativity (sample and application)
7 Midterm
8 Creative analysis and re-unifying method; morphological analysis technique, qualification ordering technique, deciding helpers and redefinition (sample and application)
9 General analogy and similar cognitive processes
10 Creativity in group scale; general, brainstorming technique and psychological processes- special topics
11 Synectics or developing the creative power (sample and application)
12 Antecedents for synectics or the process of developing the creative power, individual analogy, direct analogy, symbolic analogy, imaginative analogy (sample and application)
13 Ad text writing practice in class. The issuance of ad text subjects that will be prepared for the next week
14 Evaluation of the results- presentation
15 Evaluation of the results- presentation
16 Final Exam
