Course Objectives The aim of this course is to equip the student with the necessary knowledge and skills to protect and promote the health of the pregnant woman, fetus, and newborn during the perinatal period, as well as to provide early diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation services in cases of health deviations.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • LO1. Analyzes the significance of the perinatal period in maternal, fetal, and neonatal health by comparing national and international indicators.
  • LO2. Discusses the factors affecting maternal and neonatal health during the perinatal period in both Turkey and globally.
  • LO3. Analyzes nursing-related issues in the protection and promotion of maternal, fetal, and neonatal health during the perinatal period.
  • LO4. Plans, implements, and evaluates fundamental nursing interventions related to patient safety in the perinatal period.
Course Content Perinatal health indicators in the world and in Turkey, the formation of pregnancy and physiology of the fetus, physiology and care of the mother in pregnancy, high risk pregnancies and nursing care, teratogens and social problems before and during pregnancy, labor, mother and newborn care, assessment of fetal health, complications of labor and nursing care.
