Course Objectives The aim of this course is to provide students with knowledge and skills related to appropriate nursing care services for the protection and promotion of maternal, fetal, and newborn health during the perinatal period, as well as early diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation stages.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Plans nursing interventions to ensure patient safety during the perinatal period.
  • Knows ethical issues related to the field of perinatology.
  • Be aware of conditions affecting maternal and newborn health during the perinatal period in the world and Turkey.
  • Assesses the health of the mother, fetus, and newborn during the perinatal period.
  • Explains the relationship between epigenetics and perinatal health.
Course Content Physiology, care and complications of the mother in the postpartum period; neonatal physiology, care and complications in the postpartum period; home care services and nurse responsibilities in the postpartum period; current developments in the regulation of fertility and the responsibilities of the nurse; education and counseling services in the regulation of fertility; evidence-based practices in perinatology; infertility and assisted reproductive techniques.
