Course Objectives This course aims to provide in-depth knowledge and skills in cultural competence-based care using transcultural theories and research-based approaches.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • LO1. Understand the concepts and models of intercultural nursing.
  • LO2. Apply advocacy roles to eliminate biases and inequalities in patient care and empower the patient.
  • LO3. Explain the importance of cultural competence/sensitivity in patient care.
  • LO4. Recognize their own culture and use community resources to understand other cultures.
Course Content Culture and transcultural nursing, the effects of cultural characteristics on public health, reflections of cultural characteristics and changes on the health of women, newborns and children, the importance of transcultural nursing care in protection and development of health.
