Course Objectives The aim of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the fundamental principles and importance of family planning in line with current scientific developments, to comprehend the negative impacts of uncontrolled fertility on maternal, child, and public health, to introduce widely used family planning methods both in Turkey and globally, and to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively deliver these methods within the scope of counseling services.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • LO1. Comprehend the basic concepts and approaches related to fertility regulation and family planning.
  • LO2. Analyze the impacts of high fertility on maternal, child, and public health based on scientific knowledge.
  • LO3. Evaluate and compare the family planning methods implemented worldwide and in Turkey in terms of effectiveness, reliability, and acceptability.
  • LO4. Keep up with scientific developments and innovations regarding modern and traditional family planning methods in light of current literature
  • LO5. Apply counseling techniques specific to the individual and method in family planning counseling services.
  • LO6. Critically analyze existing health policies related to family planning and develop improvement suggestions.
Course Content The effects of excessive fertility on maternal and child health, family planning methods preferred in the world and in Turkey, and counseling services.
