Course Objectives To provide students knowledge related child development, nutrition, preventive medicine, diagnosis and treatment of common pediatric diseases. To monitor and diagnose, treat and monitor the development and health of the, child and adolescent patients in the clinical stages of medical education.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Evaluates the medical history of child and adolescent patients.
  • Makes the physical examination of the child and evaluates the vital functions.
  • Follow the growth and development of the child.
  • Recall and applies the laboratory tests that are required during the follow-up of healthy children.
  • Understand the common disease of childhood and adolescents, explains the risks.
  • Understands the Child abuse, violation and neglect.
  • Understand the problems requiring emergency intervention for child.
  • Apply basic interventional procedures.
  • Plan the laboratory tests necessary to diagnose the patient and interpret the laboratory tests to be requested.
  • He / she advises the patient with his family about the progress of the treatment and the follow-up plans.
  • Treat common diseases in childhood.
  • Apply the basic interventions to the pediatric patient in primary care and refer them to a higher health institution.
  • Conducts appropriate communication with colleagues, senior experts and health workers and conducts team work.
  • Read and discuss the basic literature about pediatrics.
  • Evaluates professional competence and improves professional performance by continuing to learn.
  • Has information about prevention of behaviors that may pose a risk to children and adolescents.

Neurological diseases. Hematologic diseases and malignant diseases in children. Approach to lymphadenopathy, cyanotic baby, children with shortage of respiration, dehydration, , hematologic disorders, emergency conditions
