Course Objectives Course objective is to analyze the relationship of culture and media through the historic development of various communication industries—radio, motion pictures, television, journalism, advertising, public relations, video games and the Internet—and their impact on social and personal values.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Identify key moments in the historical development of the mass media.
  • Understand the role of communication and the media in the shaping and development of culture and society
  • Criticize media texts in relation to representation, form, and production.
  • Develop a greater awareness of ethical and other aspects of mass media.
  • Become a more active and critical media consumer.
Course Content This course examines and analyses the mass culture and popular culture.
