Course Objectives The aim of this course is to examine the phases and structure of Central Asian and Caucasian states and peoples since the first periods of history. The political and social transformation of the Central Asian and Caucasian states from the 19th century to the present will be examined, and the change they have experienced after great wars and important political events will be discussed. In addition, the effect of this change on international politics will be explained. After the establishment of the Soviet Union, the phases these countries went through and the important events that could be the subject of national and international politics from the post-Soviet period to the present will be analyzed. In addition, the historical and current dimensions of the relations of the Central Asian and Caucasian states with Turkey will also be the subject of the course. In short, the aim of this course is to provide students with a basic understanding of the development of the Central Asian and Caucasian states and their transformations in social, political, foreign policy and economic issues in the process from history to the present.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • They know the transformation of the states and peoples of the Caucasus and Central Asia starting from the first years of history.
  • Have the ability to interpret the relations of Central Asian and Caucasian states with Turkey from a current and historical perspective.
  • Have the ability to analyze the social, political and economic order of today's Central Asian and Caucasian states.
  • Understand the role played by the Central Asian and Caucasian regions in the international system from past to present and have the ability to conduct research on this subject.
Course Content The study of the political, historical, economic and military structures of the Black Sea and the Caucasus region; the study of the political, historical, economic and military structures of the Middle East region; the study of the political, historical, economic and military structures of the Far East and South Asia region; the study of the political, historical, economic and military structure of the Africa.
