Course Objectives In the course, a background information will be given about the founding philosophy of the European Union, its history and the intellectual background in its establishment, its history and enlargements. In the light of this information, the focus will be on the development of Turkey's relations with the EU. The process from the first application to the present will be examined through the political, economic, structural and social bottlenecks that Turkey and the EU have fallen into. From this point of view, the effect of Europeanization will be emphasized and how Europeanization affects domestic policy dynamics in Turkey will be discussed. The perception of the EU in Turkey and the EU's view of Turkey's membership will be discussed. The course aims to equip ourselves with scenarios about the development, effects and future of Turkey-EU relations.

  • Comprehends the relationship between Turkey's global position and domestic politics.
Course Content Turkey's membership process in the EU; negotiations; Turkey-EU relations in historical perspective.
